FWC Escape Ring Requirements (Florida)
Under Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission rules for crab traps:
Wire traps must have at least three unobstructed escape rings installed on a vertical outer surface adjacent to each chamber.
Each escape ring must have an inside diameter of at least 2 3/8 inches.
This helps reduce bycatch and allows smaller or non-target species to escape the trap.
